Passion Never Rests

DR. ALVIN LOGAN, B.A. ’12, M.ED. ’13

Director of Education
Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture

In celebration of Black History Month, the University of Washington salutes Dr. Alvin Logan, who is working to increase access and inclusion at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture. Logan aims to engage communities who haven’t previously connected with the museum — elevating their stories in the Burke’s cultural collection and hiring more
on-site educators from those communities.

The UW and the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity are proud of Dr. Logan’s contributions and achievements.

“I want people who come from that culture to study that culture. That’s the only way you can decolonize information—if the knowledge bearers and historians of that culture are the ones who carry the information.”
