Administrative and academic units across the University of Washington’s tri-campus community can apply for Diversity and Inclusion Seed Grants to support projects that advance any of the six goals of the UW’s 2017-2021 Diversity Blueprint.
Vice President for Minority Affairs & Diversity and Chief Diversity Officer Rickey Hall announced the creation of these new grants. Up to $3,000 will be made available per project for the 2017-18 academic year.
“Moving the University of Washington toward fulfilling our goals for diversity and inclusion will require the combined efforts of all students, faculty and staff across our three campuses,” Hall said. “It is our hope that these seed grants will provide some extra support for units to carry out this work in their areas.”
All UW academic and administrative units at the Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma campuses are eligible to apply. Proposals that include more than one unit and are supported by matching funds from deans, vice presidents or departments/units are encouraged.
Proposals are accepted twice annually. The spring application process will close on June 16, 2017. Award notifications will take place in August 2017.
The 2017-2021 Diversity Blueprint was released in January and is used by academic and administrative units as a framework for guiding the UW toward achieving its stated goals for diversity and inclusion.
The six goals of the Blueprint are: cultivating an inclusive campus climate; attracting, retaining and graduating a diverse and excellent student body; attracting and retaining a diverse faculty; attracting and retaining a diverse staff; assessing tri-campus diversity needs and improving accountability and transparency.
