The University of Washington’s Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity hosted its second annual Eastern Washington Scholars Reception on Friday, August 22, 2008, at the Yakima Valley Museum. This event recognized and honored incoming freshmen along with their families for their hard work and dedication which led to the obtainment of academic scholarships. Each of these scholars achieved academic success while in high school, and will be bringing their talents to the University of Washington campus this fall. Thirty Eight scholars were invited from Eastern Washington and Tri-Cities High Schools including AC Davis in Yakima, Kamiakin, Sunnyside, Toppenish, Mabton, Prosser, Pasco, Highland, Southridge, Eisenhower, Grandview, and West Valley.
