Lloyd is one of two students who will contribute to the blog during OMA&D’s inaugural study abroad program in Brisbane, Australia, June 19-July 18.
I am currently an undergraduate working on a civil engineering degree at the University of Washington. I have a strong interest in civil and environmental engineering, and also a strong passion for green and sustainable technology. I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and moved to Seattle, Wash., in the fall of 2008. I enjoy sports, hiking, playing the guitar, and I love golfing.
I am interested in this study abroad trip because it gives me the opportunity to work on robotics, which is a passion and hobby, and it also gives me a more personal experience exploring different cultures and broadening my outlook on different cultures. The program I am involved in is a program that deals with collecting data using autonomous underwater robots and using the data to prepare a professional document. I expect to gain real hands-on experience from this program that I can apply to my future career.
