The Early Identification Program Scholars (EIP-Scholars) is a cohort-based program operated by the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity Graduate School Preparatory Services that supports undergraduate students exploring the benefits of and interested in applying for graduate degrees—master’s or Doctoral.
EIP-Scholars supports student participants through a comprehensive preparatory curriculum that includes seminars, holistic advising, writing, and experiential learning. By the end of the program, participants will have created an individual development plan to enhance their undergraduate education in preparation for applying to graduate school. Participants will have the opportunity to be supported during their applications for graduate school and graduate fellowships.
EIP-Scholars has three pathways for students to engage with our program:
- Exploratory Pathway: For students curious about and invested in exploring what graduate school is and how it might benefit their academic and career journeys. By the end of this pathway, participants will have the knowledge and tools to understand if graduate school is a path they want to prepare for. Students may enter the research, or the leadership, and advocacy pathways or apply to be a McNair Scholar
- Leadership & Advocacy Pathway: For students interested in community-based work, volunteer work, and leadership who know they want to apply to a master’s program only. This includes M.A., M.Ed., MSW, and MPH programs. By the end of this pathway, participants will have pursued experiential learning opportunities and be prepared to apply for graduate programs in their respective fields of study.
- Research Pathway: For students considering a research-based graduate education and interested in engaging in undergraduate research. By the end of this pathway, participants will have pursued undergraduate research and will be prepared to apply for graduate programs in their respective fields of study, either master’s or doctoral (PhDs).
