Angela King, ’95, and Al Sugiyama, ’84, received significant honors in recent months:
King, a reporter and anchor for Q13 FOX News This Morning, was honored at the 48th Annual Northwest Emmy Awards on June 11. She received an Emmy Award for Informational Segment-News. A former EOP student, King remains active with OMA&D, annually supporting EOP Celebration, Féte and Honors, as a film narrator and program emcee.
Sugiyama, founder and former executive director of the Center for Career Alternatives, was named the first recipient of the Seattle Central Community College Distinguished Alumni Award on June 9. It is the first time in the college’s 45-year history that it has named such an honor. Sugiyama, a member of the UW President’s Minority Community Advisory Committee, also addressed students during Seattle Central’s commencement exercises at Benaroya Hall on June 18.
