The University of Washington’s Upward Bound program serves students in three high schools in the Seattle School District. The program began partnering with Cleveland High School in 1983, Franklin High School in 2000, and Chief Sealth International High School in 2012. In 2017, with the award of a new grant the Upward Bound started a new partnership with Kent Public Schools and began serving students from Kent Meridian High School.
Each January eligible students at these high schools are invited to apply to UW Upward Bound. Admitted students are approved on a trial basis until they complete the necessary orientation sessions and successfully complete the first few weeks of Summer Academy.
If a student successfully completes the trial period, the UW Upward Bound program will provide services to the student until s/he graduates from high school.
