COVID-19
The Population Health Initiative awarded 53 pilot grants – totaling roughly $1.7 million in collective funds – for COVID-19 funding calls in the areas of rapid response, economic recovery and population health equity to support UW researchers in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative also supported the UW Graduate School’s quarterly livestream production, “Coexisting with COVID-19,” which sought to educate and raise public awareness of some of the key challenges posed by the pandemic.
COVID-19 vaccination symposium
The University of Washington and Johns Hopkins University presented the virtual symposium, “Preserving the Scientific Integrity of Getting to COVID-19 Vaccines,” on October 6, 2020. Leading experts – including Drs. Anthony S. Fauci and Moncef Slaoui – in vaccine science, health metrics, policy, regulation and communications came together to share insights and explore key issues related to planning for COVID-19 vaccination.
