David Schumacher
David Schumacher is now the Director of Government and Public Affairs for the Washington State Investment Board, the agency that manages over $200 billion in retirement and other public funds.
Until recently a member of Governor Inslee’s Executive Team and the Director of the Washington Office of Financial Management (OFM), Schumacher was Governor Inslee’s lead for all fiscal matters both with state government and the Legislature from 2013 to 2024.
Before being appointed as OFM Director, Schumacher worked for the nonpartisan Washington Senate Ways and Means Committee in various roles from 1995 to 2012, taking an opportunity to be the NW Government Affairs Director at the Boeing Company between 2008-2010.
Schumacher was born in Seattle and holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Washington. He and his wife Katy, also a UW alum, live in Olympia, where she is the executive director of the Olympia Education Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to helping students succeed in school and life. They have two school-age children involved in multiple sports and activities.
