Message of Regent Zeeck Announcing All-Campus Listening Sessions

This message was sent to all students, staff, faculty and academic personnel across the University of Washington on August 19, 2024.

Dear Members of the UW Community,

In June, the Board of Regents launched a search for the next President of the University of Washington. As I stated then, selecting the University President is the Board’s single most important task.

The search is in its early stages, and the Board of Regents and the Presidential Search Advisory Committee (PSAC) are asking for input into the characteristics and qualities of a successful UW President as well as opportunities and challenges before the UW. This input will shape the leadership profile that the PSAC uses to evaluate and rank candidates for the Board’s consideration and selection. The Board and the PSAC strongly encourage organized feedback from representative groups.

Opportunities for feedback include:

  • Joining one of our remote or in-person all-campus listening sessions:
    • Zoom 1: Monday, Sept. 23, noon–1 p.m.
    • Zoom 2: Monday, Sept. 23, 5:30–6:30 p.m.
    • Seattle 1: Monday, Sept. 30, 3:30–5:30 p.m., South Campus Center, 316 Large Event Space
    • Seattle 2: Tuesday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.–noon, HUB Lyceum
    • Bothell: Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2:30–4:30 p.m., North Creek Events Center
    • Tacoma: Wednesday, October 2, 9–11 a.m., Milgard 110
The opportunity to comment will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please sign up for a two-minute comment period via this form.
  • Taking a moment to fill out a short survey developed in partnership with our search consultants, SP&A Executive Search, by Oct. 1. If you have additional comments or questions, we welcome your feedback and candidate nominations at uwsearch@uw.edu.

Periodic updates will be provided on the search website as the search process proceeds. The Board looks forward to your input and engagement.

Sincerely,

David Zeeck
Chair, Board of Regents
