Case Studies in Effort Certification: Salary Cap and UW Faculty at the VA

This class, led by an effort analyst from Management Accounting and Analysis (MAA), will review general compliance requirements of the DHHS salary cap, normally referred to as the NIH salary cap. We will review how the salary cap is calculated and how the eFECS system determines which cap amount to apply. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the tools used to plan for and adjust salary cap cost sharing – the Salary Cap Calculator for Determining Salary Distribution and the Salary Cap Calculator for Adjusting an FEC. In addition, we will review how to manage faculty split between the VA and UW and what to do related to their salary caps.

The Collaborative for Research Education (CORE) at the University of Washington is committed to providing equal access to its programs and courses for all learners. Please contact the CORE office at corehelp@uw.edu or 206-616-0804 if you require accommodations. To request accommodation, please reach out at least ten business days before the class start date to ensure timely arrangements. All information will be kept confidential.
