draft Short Form Consent Policy – Summary of Comments
HSD has changed its policy for using short form consent. These changes are motivated by updated FDA guidance as well as the development of a new UW draft guidance on Diversity in Clinical Trials.
HSD received a number of comments about the proposed revisions to the short form policy during an open comment period from August 16th to September 16th. The final policy takes into consideration feedback that we received from the UW research community, information from UW Medicine Language Access and Cultural Advocacy, and is designed to align as much as possible with partner institutions while taking into consideration differences in our institution’s research portfolio.
