University wide policies
Board of Regents governing documents include Bylaws, Standing Orders, and Regent Policies. They provide high-level guiding principles and direction for the administration to implement. All materials contained in the Board of Regents Governance resource are matters for the UW Board of Regents to adopt, revise, or rescind as action items before the full Board at one of its meetings.

Administrative Policy Statements are initiated and developed by a responsible office and adopted (approved) by the President. They memorialize University leadership decisions that are required actions of the University community. They must:
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
- Impact more than one area of the University; and/or
- Support the University’s role and mission.
Other University policies
Bothell, Seattle, and Tacoma campuses, and UW Medicine maintain policies and procedures related specifically to the operations of their campuses. They address issues not covered by University wide level policies and may supplement, but not be in conflict with, University wide policy. Refer to the individual campuses directly to access these specific policies
