Title IX at UW

What is Title IX?

Title IX is a federal law that, in concert with other federal and state laws, prohibits discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender expression, pregnancy or related conditions, and LGBTQ identity. Sex- and gender-based violence and harassment are a form of discrimination. Learn more at UW Title IX.

If you have experienced sex- or gender-based violence or harassment

If you have experienced sexual assault, relationship violence, domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment, related retaliation or other forms of sexual misconduct, you can learn more about your rights and the resources available to you at the University’s Title IX Survivor Resources page,  Sexual Assault Resources webpage, and Make a Title IX report page.

If you are aware of sex- or gender-based violence, harassment or discrimination

If you are a UW student employee, staff, or faculty member who becomes aware of a situation that involves sexual assault, relationship violence, domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment, related retaliation, or other forms of sexual misconduct, you are encouraged to  share this information with the Title IX Office via the online Title IX reporting form. When using the form, you can choose to remain anonymous and/or not share others’ names to protect an individual’s identity.

If you are a Title IX Official Required to Report, you must inform Title IX when you become aware of sex- and gender-based violence, harassment or discrimination. You can learn more about this designation on the Title IX Employee reporting expectations webpage.
