Autumn 2021 Resources & Opportunities (Vol. 3) – Husky Pawket Guide


Hi Huskies,

First, an urgent reminder: to avoid a hold on your winter quarter registration, you must complete a vaccination verification by Oct. 29.

This is not the same thing as the vaccine attestation from earlier in the fall – even if you already attested to your vaccine status, you still need to complete a vaccine verification. Please take a moment to check and ensure that you have done this – more on that below.

1. Health and Safety

Urgent: If you haven’t yet, remember to complete your vaccination verification by Oct. 29 so that you will be able to register for winter quarter.

Halloween is a fun time of the year. It’s also a good time to keep your guard up. Read UWPD’s Halloween Safety Tips to ensure you stay safe while having fun this weekend.

  • The SafeZone App helps you get the right assistance quickly with just a tap of your phone.

New this year: Husky Prevention & Response is a foundational online prevention and response course about sex- and gender-based violence and harassment.

IF YOU HAVE COVID-19 SYMPTOMS

If you are currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home and  follow the instructions for what to do if you feel sick.

2. Connecting with Community

November is UW Global Month, and brings several ways to connect with Huskies around the world and expand your horizons.

UW’s CIRCLE office offers a variety of engagement opportunities and resources for international students and globally-minded domestic students. Here’s one that’s coming up:

  • Global Leadership Series: Join a conversation with UW alum Ken Sun, General Manager of Microsoft Taiwan. Ken has extensive experience in the field of cloud and AI, industrial automation, energy management, consumer electronics, and the semiconductor industry (Nov. 2).

Friday Night Activities at the IMA bring you roller skating and archery (not combined) every – you guessed it – Friday night. Bring a friend or make a new one there!

There’s still time to explore registered student organizations (RSOs) – More Virtual RSO Fairs are coming up:

Share your talents with the UW community and sell your crafts and creations at the Fall Maker’s Fair on Dec. 1 – apply to be a vendor by Nov. 1.

5. Navigating UW

Election Day is Nov. 2: Visit the UW Student Engagement Hub (at the HUB) if you need to register to vote, update your registration to your current address, or get a replacement ballot – open Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Join the Husky Experience Student Advisory Council: Members gain program management, leadership, and financial management skills and empower student innovation and impact.  Apply by Nov. 9.

Djelli Berisha (UW Student Regent)

Djelli is the Student Regent on the University of Washington Board of Regents, and is the immediate past President of ASUW Bothell.

Pronouns: He/Him/His
Academic Year: Senior
Major: Biology
Hometown: Lynnwood, WA
Favorite place on campus: UW Bothell has a really nice trail that leads into the wetlands by our sports fields which is really calming when stressed.

 

 

What does your position entail? Collectively governing and stewarding the university as a member of the UW Board of Regents.

Why did you get involved in student leadership? I first got involved in student government at UW Bothell to make a positive impact on my UWB community. I am grateful to have met so many amazing mentors and people through my time in student leadership.
