Hello Huskies,
I couldn’t be more excited to welcome you to a new academic year. For those of you who are new to the UW, I’m Denzil Suite, your Vice President for Student Life.
We in the Division of Student Life are all here to be your support team during your time at the UW. The HUB, UW Recreation, Housing and Food Services, Disability Resources, Husky Health Center and others are all part of that team.
In conjunction with our partners across campus, Student Life supports you as you grow as individuals and as you learn with and from your UW community. The UW is dedicated to being an inclusive environment that is welcoming to those with a broad range of backgrounds, lived experiences, values and viewpoints. Read more on inclusion at the UW.
I will send messages like this to you throughout the academic year. My goal with these messages (Pawket Guide — get it? Anyone?) is to equip you with need-to-know info and tips to help you maximize your Husky Experience, in a format that’s quick to read and easy to digest.
Ok, let’s get started …
Husky Experience
Expectations and responsibilities of our University community
President Cauce’s recent blog post shared resources such as our UW Student Code of Conduct, which prohibits harassment of all kinds, and our policies and expectations, which apply to UW community members and to individuals coming to the University.
The UW is a part of society – not a refuge from it – and our community experiences many of the same disagreements and competing perspectives that exist throughout our pluralistic society. It is necessary for us all to learn how to communicate across our differences, and how to handle disagreements with empathy, courage and resilience, in order to effectively navigate the complexities of our world. Read further on the UW President’s blog and subscribe to receive future posts.

It is run as a small group where we confront, discuss and fight against appearance ideals pressed upon us by society and social media. Sign up for a group; they start Oct. 22 or later and are facilitated by LiveWell Peer Health Educators and UW Counseling Center staff. We’re excited to launch group options for everyone including All Genders, Men’s, and Women’s.
