Autumn Resources & Opportunities (Volume 4) Husky Pawket Guide

Husky Pawket Guide From the Desk of Dr. Denzil Suite, UW Division of Student Life

Hello Huskies,

As the days grow shorter and winter weather arrives, now is a good time to learn about options at the UW to help you get home safely at night — NightRide and Husky SafeTrip.

NightRide Shuttle
Students can board the NightRide from any one of eight on-campus stops and be dropped off at any requested location within the two shuttle zones on and near campus. Shuttles pick up passengers from 8 p.m. until around 1:30 a.m. Call 206-685-3146 or visit the UW Transportation website for more information about this and other UW shuttle services.

Husky SafeTrip
Use Husky SafeTrip (formerly known as Husky NightWalk) to get a safe ride home on or near campus with a UW Police Department security guard 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily (except University holidays or when campus operations are suspended). To request a ride from campus to a residence, parking lot or public transit stop within the service area, call 206-685-9255. The service was recently renamed because it’s no longer a walk.

However you’re getting home, hope you stay warm and take good care of yourself as the end of the quarter approaches!

Sincerely,

Denzil

Husky Experience

Maker’s Fair

Mark your calendar for Nov. 20-21 and explore crafts and items made by members of the UW community at the Fall Makers Fair. This event will take place at the HUB Street/Lyceum from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Connections

Navy to neuroscience

From the depths of military service to the forefront of neuroscience, Kristin Bennett’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. As a researcher at the UW’s Nance Lab, Bennett uses her personal experience with brain injury to drive innovative studies and improve treatments. Discover how this inspiring veteran is embodying the true spirit of the Husky Experience.

Pop-Up Play

Come join us on HUB Street on Nov. 14 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. for origami and other fun fall crafts, hosted by the HUB in partnership with the Origami Club!

Husky Leadership Certificate

Ready to grow as a leader and give back to your community? UW’s CELE Center’s Husky Leadership Certificate connects seniors and 5th year students with mentors to create a leadership e-portfolio and reflect on their leadership journey. Applications are due by end of day, Nov. 14.

Health and Well-Being

Husky HelpLine

Huskies, we all have moments when things get hard, frustrating, or overwhelming and we need to talk to someone. Husky HelpLine is available to support you 24/7 and connect you to a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.

Career and Internships

Consulting Demystified: Alumni Career Panel

Interested in consulting but not quite sure what it entails or how to break in? Come for a virtual conversation with UW alumni working in this field. This moderated panel will start with set questions and open up for audience Q&A. Register to attend on Nov. 20 from 4–5 p.m. and learn from alumni who have walked the path before you.

Several spots in the Husky Den at the HUB are open until 7 p.m., and Center Table, Local Point and Pagliacci are open until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Grab a burger at Dub Street, a coffee at Quench or some pancakes and bacon for late-night breakfast. Fuel your studies or just hang out with friends!
