I hope you have enjoyed the first few weeks of the quarter, and that you have been able to reconnect with the people and places that make the UW on-campus experience so special. I also want to express my thanks to all of you for doing your part to keep our community safe, we have seen great cooperation with UW’s face covering requirements and getting tested.
The deadline to verify your vaccination status is approaching quickly. Be sure you have completed this as soon as possible, as it could affect your winter quarter registration – more info below.

1. Health and Safety
UW’s vaccination requirements have evolved – take a moment to ensure that you have done everything you need to do to be in compliance.
- All students are required to verify their vaccination status through the secure COVID-19 vaccination verification form even if you already completed the vaccination attestation.
Exposure Notifications: The WA Notify app can inform you if you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 – it’s free and anonymous.
As we enter cold and flu season, here’s a bit on how to tell if you have COVID or a cold.
Husky Coronavirus Testing is UW’s COVID-19 testing program, and is free for students.

If you are currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home and follow the instructions for what to do if you feel sick.
2. Connecting with Community
Monday was Indigenous Peoples’ Day, commemorated by the White House this year for the first time.
- Dive deeper: Check out “Indigenizing” the University of Washington: Lessons from the wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ – Intellectual House, a lecture from UW Associate Professor Dr. Charlotte Coté (Oct. 13).
The UW Rec Class Pass gives you access to as many fitness and mindfulness classes as you want, including Fight Fit, High-Intensity Interval Training, meditation, Zumba, and more.
Intramural sports are a great way to do something you love or try something new and meet other Huskies along the way. An Intramurals pass costs $20 and gives you access to all options.
- Fall offerings include a Scavenger Hunt League, Volleyball, Badminton, Pickleball, Spikeball, Cornhole, Flag Football, Soccer, and Basketball.
Don’t miss W Day, kicking off the UW Homecoming Weekend with a celebration on Red Square with music, free t-shirts, and more (Oct. 15).
A few things for international and internationally-minded Huskies:
- The International Grad Student Mixer welcomes new and continuing international graduate students to meet, mingle, learn about campus resources, and enjoy food and games – RSVP by Oct. 14.

- Voyage, UW’s student-run travel magazine, is taking applications to join their team.

3. Mental Health Moment
LET’S TALK – New options for fall
Let’s Talk connects UW students with support from experienced Counseling Center counselors, no appointment necessary.
This quarter there are four Let’s Talk options:
- Let’s Talk: Drop In – Drop in between 2 – 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
- Let’s Talk: Scheduled – Choose to schedule a 20-minute Let’s Talk consultation with a counselor.
- Let’s Talk: Referrals – Students looking for ongoing psychotherapy can talk with a case manager on Fridays, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
- Let’s Talk: AAPI Student Support – AAPI students who are facing anti-Asian bias or who are in need of support can drop in on Thursdays, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Favorite place on campus: Red Square (in the rain!!)
What does your position entail? My position is in place so that residents of UW have the resources to empower ourselves and advocate for what is right and what we need on campus.
Why did you get involved in student leadership? As a previous Political Science major, I am quite passionate about representation and making sure that all voices are heard. This is possible in RCSA and I am honored to be here.
