Hello Huskies,
Did you know that more than 31 percent of your fellow UW undergrads are first-generation students? We also have many faculty and staff who are proud to be the first in their families to earn their degrees. I am one of them!
The UW is participating in the National First-Generation College Celebration on Nov. 8, a date that honors the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965. I encourage you to join us by attending one of the upcoming activities over the next week, sharing your story, supporting our first-gen community on social media and learning from and celebrating our first-gen community through their stories.
Sincerely,
Denzil

Connections
Trick-or-Treating at the HUB
From 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Oct. 31, come down to the HUB first floor to get a bag that you can decorate, then take around the building to fill with treats and learn all about the resources and services available to you as students!
Washington Student Experience Survey
On Monday, Oct. 28, all Huskies received an email invitation to participate in the Washington Student Experience Survey. Your response about student needs and access to resources will go a long way in improving services for all Huskies. Look for an email titled “UW Needs Your Feedback to Support Students!” The survey closes on Nov. 22. Reminder emails will be sent to students who haven’t completed the survey every Monday until Nov. 22.
Labor Studies Annual Awards Celebration
Join us on Nov. 10 as we recognize the work of our students and faculty and share our agenda for the year, from the Labor Archives of Washington to the Building a Movement Labor Internship. Registration is required, and dinner and drinks are provided.
