CSSC Director Search

Now Hiring: UW Director of Community Standards and Student Conduct

The University of Washington (UW) is conducting a search in spring of 2022 for an outstanding, principled, and dynamic student affairs leader for the position of Director of Community Standards and Student Conduct (CSSC) at the UW’s Seattle campus. This is a key leadership role in the UW’s Division of Student Life, and is responsible for leading a vibrant team dedicated to helping students grow and develop through accountability to the Student Conduct Code. The Director provides tri-campus leadership to ensure consistency and collaboration across the University and each campus. The Director is at the nexus of UW’s centralized-decentralized model for academic misconduct and behavioral misconduct, and is an important partner for the Title IX sexual misconduct investigation team. The Director also upholds the philosophical underpinnings of learning, development, and growth in the context of behavioral accountability.

UW is seeking a dynamic student development professional whose experience with student conduct, leadership skills, and commitment to CSSC’s values will propel the unit and our institution forward.

Student conduct at UW

Student conduct at the University of Washington challenges students to reflect on their actions, decisions, and impacts in an educational and developmental experience that promotes integrity in an inclusive environment.

CSSC’s educational pillars and learning outcomes

ENGAGE

Students can engage with the conduct process in order to share their experiences, explore options, learn about expectations, and connect with supports and resources. Through these actions, students are able to move through the process with honesty, integrity, and respect.

REFLECT

Students can reflect on their choices in order to better understand the impact on others and themselves regardless of responsibility. By examining their actions from a global perspective, students can alter their future decision-making.

DEVELOP

Students can develop a greater understanding of their decisions and create a plan where they can access support and resources to work toward future success.

Stakeholder and partner testimonials

CSSC plays a fundamental role in helping students understand academic norms, expectations, rights, and responsibilities to the greater UW community. We look forward to partner with a new director that will continue to balance the work of CSSC while understanding that not all UW students are fully aware of the expectations of the American higher education system.

– Felipe Martinez, Executive Director of CIRCLE, UW Seattle

The CSSC Director is an integral member of our campus community tasked with upholding students’ rights to a fair conduct process with an educational approach. It is important that the Director understands the power dynamics present in the conduct process and the multiple stakeholders affected by the outcomes of conduct cases. As my supervisor, I look to the Director to provide guidance and leadership in navigating the oftentimes nebulous process of investigating alleged misconduct.

– Disha Osika-Dass, Conduct Officer for CSSC, UW Seattle
