CONTACT SEEUN KIM AT KIMSEEUN@UW.EDU. THIS COURSE WILL INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE FIELD OF VIRTUAL AND AUGMENTED REALITY, COMMONLY CALLED XR. WE WILL DEDICAT A SUBSTANTIAL PORTION OF THE COURSE TO THE THEORY, TOOLS, AND TECHNIQUE NEEDED FOR YOU TO DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT XR-BASED APPLICATIONS AND PROTOTYPES. TOPICS TO BE COVERED INCLUDE: THE HISTORY AND DEVELOPMEN OF XR, DESIGN AND USABILITY TECHNIQUES FOR USE WITH XR, HUMAN FACTORS AND RELATED PSYCHOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES WITH SPECIFIC APPLICATIO TO XR, AND AN OVERVIEW OF INDUSTRIA AND ENTERPRISE APPLICATIONS BOTH PAST AND PRESENT. AFTER COMPLETING THE COURSE, STUDENTS SHOULD BE WELL PLACED TO DEVELOP XR-BASED APPLICATIONS AND PROTOTYPES AS PART OF THEIR ONGOING EDUCATION OR PERHAPS IN STARTUP VENTURES OF THEI OWN.
