THROUGH AN INQUIRY APPROACH, STUDENTS EXPLORE THE HISTORICAL, POLITICAL, AND SOCIAL CONTEXT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGGIO EMILIA APPROACH TO EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION. STUDENTS WILL DELVE INTO THE PHILOSOPHICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL PRINCIPLES OF THE APPROACH AND PURSUE ANSWERS TO THEIR OWN QUESTIONS RELATED TO THE SCHOOLS OF REGGIO EMILIA. DEVELOPED AS A SEMINAR, PARTICIPATION IN DISCUSSIONS ABOUT READINGS, OR ABOUT INDIVIDUALS' QUESTIONS AND REFLECTIONS IS A CRITICAL COMPONENT OF THIS COURSE. WITH VARIABLE CREDIT OPTIONS, STUDENTS WILL WORK WITH INSTRUCTORS TO CREATE AN INDIVIDUALIZED PLAN OF INQUIRY TO MATCH THE NUMBER OF CREDITS WITH THEIR INQUIRY PROCESS. FOR STUDENTS GOING ON THE STUDY TOUR TO REGGIO EMILIA, THE FULL 6 CREDITS WILL BE AWARDED WITH COMPLETION OF DOCUMENTATION AND REFELCTIONS OF THEIR TRIP. |
