The UW Buddy Program is designed to connect incoming exchange students with current UW Students to promote connection, ease transitions, and foster friendships while in Seattle.
While studying abroad can be both exciting and impactful, it can also be very challenging, and students often find getting around a larger campus, registering for courses, and adjusting to a different culture overwhelming.
UW Exchange Buddies are students currently studying at UW who volunteer to create a network for international exchange students to help you acclimate to student life at the University of Washington.
Incoming exchange students will receive information about the UW Buddy Program prior to arriving to Campus and you will have the option to opt-out of the program if you do not wish to be included.
UW Exchange Buddies will reach out to their Incoming exchange student at least two weeks before the quarter begins to set up a time to meet in person once you are on campus.
Benefits of the UW Buddy Program:
- Make lasting friendships with UW students as well as other exchange students!
- Ask questions to students who are experts in registering for classes, have lived on campus, and know about Seattle and the surrounding areas!
- Get oriented with UW before you arrive!
