The University Enters into a Resolution Agreement with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights

The University announced on January 15, 2025, that it has entered into a voluntary resolution agreement with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR) to resolve complaints that the University discriminated against students on the basis of shared ancestry by failing to respond to incidents of harassment consistent with the requirements of Title VI. The resolution agreement does not constitute an admission of liability, non-compliance or wrongdoing by the University.

The agreement details five categories of actions that the University has agreed to take:

  • Review and update policies and procedures
  • Provide regular reporting, review, investigation and response training for employees
  • Provide regular anti-discrimination training for students and employees
  • Conduct a climate assessment
  • Complete a prior report compilation and review
