Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA) shapes, advances, and stewards a world-class undergraduate academic experience for students at the University of Washington. Staff, faculty and students in UAA deepen and enrich the learning experience for all undergraduates, recognizing and supporting the unique learning path of each individual student and the commitment of each academic program to excellence in learning and teaching.
Within UAA, the mission of the Halbert and Nancy Robinson Center for Young Scholars (RC) at the University of Washington is threefold: teaching, research and service. The RC is a leader in the nation for developing programs that serve highly capable young pre-college and college students.
Through early entrance programs, we prepare younger students for college and provide them with challenging, accelerated learning opportunities in a vibrant, intellectual community at the University of Washington. We also provide outreach through enrichment and summer programs that offer classes for highly capable Puget Sound students. The Robinson Center is a site for research and discovery of best practices in supporting highly capable young students and maintains the UW’s position as an internationally renowned center of gifted education.
The RC has an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic, service-oriented, and student-centered individual to join our team as an academic coach/adviser.
The academic coach/adviser will assist students with a variety of areas related to academic learning at the university level including test-taking, study plans, improving study skills, coping with test anxiety and referrals for further support. Additional areas of support may include time management, goal setting and supporting challenges with procrastination and motivation. This role will support students in the University’s three accelerated programs (Transition School, Early Entrance Program (EEP), and UW Academy for Young Scholars. The Transition School program admits students into a one-year college-preparatory program after 8th grade, and upon successful completion, these students become fully matriculated University Washington students enrolled in the EEP program. Academically advanced students enter into the UW Academy after 10th grade.
