Renew your UWFA membership for 2016-2017

Dear UWFA Members,

It is that time of year again to renew your membership to the UWFA for the 2016 -2017 academic year.  Many of you have generously, at the same time, donated to the UWFA Scholarship Fund.  This year we ask you donate again.

We qualify as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS, so that donations that you make can be reported to the IRS as such.

The University of Washington’s financial aid office has determined that the average yearly cost for in-state tuition, housing, books, transportation, and personal expenses has now reached $27,000.  As you know, for many years the Faculty Auxiliary has provided three need-based scholarships to qualified students.  In this way the UWFA provides a critical service and support to our university community—something the “purpose” statement in our by-laws commits us to doing.  For the 2015 – 2016 academic year we awarded three scholarships of $3500 each.  Thanks to your generosity, we will be able to give three scholarship awards of $4000 each to the 2016 – 2017 recipients.  These three scholarships make a real difference, allowing bright, talented students to attend the UW who might not otherwise be able to—students who go on to impact our communities and our world.

In the coming years, our goal is not just to maintain the scholarships at the same level, but to grow them.  So please, be generous.  When you send in your membership renewal, please consider giving to the UWFA Scholarship Fund.  You can make your donation along with your membership renewal check.  If you prefer to make a donation online with a credit card, please visit our website: www.washington.edu/uwfa/.  Click on the “Scholarships” link to be directed to the online donation site.
