Mary Jo Ybarra-Vega
Women of Courage
Mary Jo Ybarra-Vega lives in Wenatchee, WA and is a proud daughter and wife of immigrants. She is a former agricultural worker and currently serves as an Outreach/Behavioral Health Coordinator at the Quincy Community Health Center in Quincy, Washington. Ybarra-Vega is a passionate advocate of social justice for poor, farmworker, and underserved populations, and loves working with youth.
Ybarra-Vega coordinates the Promotor de Salud Program, which has received numerous state and national awards under her leadership for its work with migrant farmworkers, innovation in outreach practices, and dedication to youth. Ybarra-Vega is also a co-founder of the Washington State Community Health Workers/Promotores Network, is a Region X Master Trainer for the Women’s Health Leadership Institute, and a Master Trainer through Stanford University’s Chronic Disease Self-Management Program.
Ybarra-Vega attended Gonzaga University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology. She received a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology degree from Central Washington University as a Patricia Harris Fellow and is a WA State Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Ybarra-Vega received the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Spring Youth Forum Prevention Award in 2014 in honor of her decades of service to her home community, Quincy, WA.
