Adriane Brown is President and COO for Intellectual Ventures (IV), the leader in the business of invention. Dr. Brown’s leadership and business acumen serve as the cornerstone for building IV’s strong global performance. Prior to IV, Dr. Brown spent 10 years at Honeywell where she served as President and CEO of the Transportation Systems group, and 19 years at Corning, ultimately serving as VP & General Manager of the Environmental Products Division. Dr. Brown has earned a reputation for driving business results, pushing innovation, strengthening customer relationships, and developing talented people.
Raised in Chesterfield County, VA in a family with values of service to others, Dr. Brown quickly realized her inherent skills as a leader and a trailblazer. In 1966, she was the youngest of five children integrating into Bellwood Elementary School. There, she fostered her compassion for others and rose in leadership by serving as 6th grade president, Girl Scout patrol leader, and eventually high school yearbook editor. Dr. Brown continues to pay it forward by serving on the board of directors of Jobs for America’s Graduates, the nation’s leading drop-out prevention program, and the Pacific Science Center, whose mission is to inspire lifelong interest in science, technology and math. She also continues to coach and mentor emerging talent, and serves as a public speaker and advocate for young people.
Dr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health, a Master’s Degree in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Sloan Fellow and a Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters from Old Dominion University. Dr. Brown also serves on the board of directors for the Washington Research Foundation, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Harman International Industries Inc., and Allergan Plc.
