Sarah Prager, MD

Women of Courage

Dr. Sarah Ward Prager is an Associate Professor in the University of Washington (UW) Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Health Services at the UW School of Public Health. She is the Director of the Family Planning Division and the Fellowship in Family Planning. Dr. Prager’s research interests include immediate postpartum long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), post abortion contraception, and early pregnancy loss management.

Dr. Prager has been involved in the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) since 2001 and is the current Chair of the Committee on Healthcare for Underserved Women and Chair of the Washington Section of District VIII. Since 2009, she has participated in global family planning projects or trainings in Nepal, Pakistan, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Dr. Prager received her undergraduate degree summa cum laude in Romance Languages and Literature from Princeton University in 1993. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 2000, and completed her residency at the University of Vermont in 2004.

She then moved to the University of California, San Francisco where she completed a Family Planning Fellowship and a Masters in Advanced Studies (MAS) in Clinical Research in 2006. She has been on faculty at UW since August, 2006.
