Teresita Batayola

Women of Courage

Teresita Batayola, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of International Community Health Services (ICHS) in Seattle, Washington. ICHS is Washington’s largest Asian and Pacific Islander primary health care services non- profit organization providing medical, dental, behavioral health, acupuncture, and health education. Under Batayola’s leadership, the US Department of Health and Human Services named ICHS a National Quality Leader for 2014 and 2015. Governor Jay Inslee also honored ICHS with the 2015 Warren Featherstone Reid Award for Excellence in Health Care.

Batayola brings a background in economic, community and international development, and strategic planning to her work. She is also an active spokesperson and advocate for affordable health care and community health. Batayola is Chair of Seattle Colleges’ Board of Trustees, the immediate past president of the Washington Association of Community and Migrant Health Centers, and serves on various national and state health care boards and task forces. In 2014, Batayola was recognized as a White House Champion of Change for increasing access to health care coverage, and received the Filipino Community of Seattle Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Leadership. In 2012, she received the Betsey K. Cooke Grassroots MVP Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers and in 2010, Batayola was named an outstanding leader in healthcare by Seattle Business Magazine.

Batayola holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Affairs from Seattle University and a Master of Science Degree in Urban Administration from Bucknell University.
