GCA team: Super list of accomplishments which reflect the strategic approach by the GCA team. Impressive! Weldon E .Ihrig, Office of the Executive Vice President
Tina Lidnin and Fil Acuario: We want to let you know how much we appreciate the exceptional assistance we have been receiving from Tina Lidnin and Fil Acuario.
Due to special staffing circumstances, we have needed a lot of hand holding and patience, and will probably need more. In order to pay our consultants in a timely manner, we have had to ask for favors on more than one occasion.
We have been expertly and efficiently guided and served, and wish to make that known to the appropriate people, and especially to Fil and Tina. With sincere thanks, the T&D team: Sally Johnson, Consultation Services Coordinator, Training & Development
Li-Chang Wong: Greetings, Lichang— we have communicated back and forth about business matters for a long time; now our contact is coming to an end. Heather Price has graduated and is now a post doctoral associate in the UW Atmospheric Sciences and Program on Climate Change. We have not received applications from students at UW, and do not have any awardee to replace Heather for the coming academic year–so I will not be bothering you with questions this year.
I want to thank you for all the help you have provided. With assistance such as yours, working with the University has been a pleasure. I wish you the best in your future endeavors and maybe our paths will cross again sometime. Have a wonderful spring and summer. Mary Kinney, Oak Ridge Associated Universities
Ann Sarna: I would really like to thank you for all of your assistance with this difficult situation. Our meeting today was very informative and constructive. I truly believe that because of your initiative, Bank of America will do its very best so that this doesn't happen again. On behalf of myself and the Law School, I would like to say that we are very lucky to have assets like you at this institution. Arlo Hammontree, Financial Aid Coordinator, UW School of Law
Nancy Hurja: Thank you for your timely and compassionate assistance with refunding Brian's tuition. Your personal interest in helping our family is admirable and we are so appreciate.
Brian is a remarkable young man and he plans to recover his health and continue his studies at the University of Washington. Randy and Patty Face (parents)
Ruth Johnston: Last Thursday & Friday, I attended the annual Governmental Accounting & Auditing Conference held down at Seatac. I was delighted to find that
Ruth was one of the presenters - participating in a panel discussion on
performance measurements. She gave a great talk - though her time to
present was cut down to five minutes. She adjusted, not by trimming her
discussion, but by talking faster :)
There were ten participants from UW, and except for me, all from your shop. We had a chance to visit and talk during the luncheons. Without exception, all spoke enthusiastically about working for Financial Management. Bill Ferris,
Executive Director of Administration, Office of the Executive Vice President
(in a letter to V'ella Warren)
Karen Russell: I find the Quarterly Cost Sharing Report extremely useful. It is one of the best things to come from GCA in a long time. It will definitely help departments be more proactive about making sure that cost sharing pledges are met. The report alerted me to several projected shortfalls in cost sharing and I was able to take appropriate steps this week to prevent them.
Feel free to pass along my comments to Tami, Sue, Vicky, etc. Karen Bergeron, Biology
Ana Duppenthaler: Ana did it again. My wife had a heart event early friday morning and was hospitalized this weekend and is at home currently recovering. I was able to come in early afternoon on Friday 4-16-04only to deliver my revolving fund receipts which totaled $29,790.28. Our fund as Friday 4-16-04 was down to $1,795.00. This was due two APL arctic ice camps and one research cruise being prepared in March. So I was need of a reimbursement check. Ana made time in her busy work day on Friday afternoon to have a check issued. She made one less worry for me. I'm truly grateful for what she did. Tom Kerrigan, Applied Physics Laboratory - Purchasing
Maureen Rhea: Maureen, yesterday in Cabinet Dick Thompson gave you a high compliment by saying that you are the best auditor he has worked with in your approach to working to keep staff from getting into trouble. That is true praise and well warranted. Thanks for your effective leadership. Weldon Ihrig, Office of the Executive Vice President
Ann Anderson, Karen Long and Shawn Williams: We have been struggling with our fiscal person being out and a situation finally came to a head, so I took on the challenge of solving the problem.
I want to let you know that Shawn Williams went out of her way to help me, answer all my dumb questions and build my confidence that though we in T&D had messed up, the vendor that needed to be paid would be taken care of.
I know that service is a big part of your culture and I want you to know that Shawn is a great example of excellent customer service . Thanks!, Elizabeth Warrick, Director, UW Training and Development
Ping Tan: (On her in-depth report on additions to the CEF). Thanks so much, Ping. This report is very helpful information. Marilyn Montgomery, VP for Development
Kah Loh, Shelly Yen, Cristi Chapman, and Tami Sadusky: I have made the OPUS entry …. This can be viewed on HEPPS now. We are truly appreciative of the extra efforts you provided to us to help us finalize this … correctly!!
Sue Camber—you’ve got a really superb customer service team! Michael Aly, Surgery
Heather Norberg Stewart: (on approving an emergency check) You rock! Many thanks to you for your help. Cheers. Jerry Davison, Botany grad student
