Rivkah SassRivkah Sass ('78), Executive Director of the Omaha Public Library, was named Library Journal's 2006 Librarian of the Year!   Rivkah has worked in libraries across the state and the nation. After completing her MLIS, she began her career as a children's librarian at Spokane County Public Library. She followed that with stints as the community library coordinator at the Chehalis Branch of Timberland Regional Library, continuing education coordinator for the Washington State Library, deputy state librarian of Maryland, and reference and information services coordinator for Multnomah County Public Library, before heading to Omaha.  In their announcement, Library Journal described Rivkah as "a librarian unafraid of, indeed energized by, risk, happy to force change, and rooted in a library philosophy of service."  Omaha Public Library's gate count and circulation have increased 13 percent under her leadership and the library is now a model for automated acquisitions. 



Rebecca Littman ('94) has been elected to the Board of the Music Library Association as a Member-at-Large for the 2006-2008 biennium.

Paula McMillen ('97) was promoted and tenured in May 2005 and is now an Associate Professor at the Oregon State University Library.  She is currently on research sabbatical through August 2006.

Caro (Crowley) McClenahan ('02) had her first child, Samantha, on October 8, 2005. 

David Wright ('99) works as a readers' services librarian at The Seattle Public Library's Central Branch, and is acting chair of Readers' Advisors of Puget Sound.  His columns and book reviews can be found in Booklist, Library Journal, ALKI, and the NoveList database. 

Leslie (Hurst) Bussert ('03) got married in 2004 and is now the Reference & Instruction/Ethics & Humanities Librarian at the University of Washington, Bothell/Cascadia Community College.  She is currently working with two of her colleagues on an information literacy instruction case study to be published by Haworth Press in a textbook for library school students. 

Echo Galbraith Allen ('05) is a Youth Services Librarian for the Henderson District Public Libraries in Henderson, Nevada.
