My name is Amy. I graduated from dental assistant college and am planning to attend a four-year college to pursue dentistry. I have a learning disability that interferes with my reading and writing. I also have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), which interferes with many things at school and home.
My name is Silvia. I was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone or glass bones), I was attending Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA, for a Bachelor's degree in business, but I had to take a year off due to my health. Hopefully I can make up the lost time. I enjoy listening to all sorts of music. I have managed to do well in school with all the obstacles that I have, not just physically, but also financially, and with immigration to worry about. All my hard work has paid off because I sorted out my legal and financial status. I have another health barrier, but I hope this situation gets resolved soon.

Hi. My name is Alexandra. I am a senior at the University of Washington, where I am majoring in biochemistry. I plan to get my Ph.D. and become a research scientist. I have a visual impairment; in class I use an assistive device called a JORDY, which is basically a set of digital binoculars that helps me see overheads and PowerPoint presentations. I have large print textbooks and get extra time to take tests. I currently work in a research lab on the UW campus studying gene expression and Muscular Dystrophy. DO-IT has helped me make professional connections, such as my Microsoft internship. I have made some good friends and have helped connect a few people to the program.

And, thanks in large part to the support of DO-IT, I've been able to be independent. Summer 2007, I worked as a Business Correspondence Intern for Clipper Navigation, the company that runs the Victoria Clipper. Where will I navigate next? Well, I'm working on that!
