Moments of Reflection
As Huskies come back together for the first day of autumn quarter, bells across the Seattle campus will ring throughout the day. The bells, a symbol of transition, will signal moments when each of us might reflect on the losses and sorrows of the past year and a half, and serve as a joyful celebration of our community’s return to campus. The UW is home to three separate sets of bells, each with their own unique story and traditions, including the Denny Bell, cast in 1859, making it the UW’s oldest artifact. On Wednesday, Sept. 29, we hope you will join those around you and take a moment to listen to the bells calling us into community as we move forward together.
- Denny Bell at Denny Hall at 9:20am (for 10 minutes)
- UW Carillon Bells at Kane Hall at 11:20am and 12:20pm (for 10 minutes each time)
- Gordon Stuart Peek Foundation Memorial Change Ringing Bells at Gerberding Hall at 5:20pm (for 30 minutes)
