Code of Conduct
The University of Washington Office of Undergraduate Research is dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all attendees and participants of the Undergraduate Research Symposium. By attending or participating in the Undergraduate Research Symposium, individuals agree to abide by this code of conduct.
Individuals will:
- Demonstrate respect and consideration for all people.
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of themselves and others, following all safety guidelines and instructions provided by the organizers.
- Follow all “University of Washington policies, including building policies (e.g., HUB, libraries, and Meany Center).
- Follow all local, state, and federal laws.
Individuals will not violate the safety and security of others. Prohibited behaviors include, but are not limited to:
- Aggressive or intimidating behavior.
- Engaging in behavior that is potentially unsafe or harmful to self or others.
- Vending, peddling, soliciting, or petitioning during the Symposium; posting or distributing materials without permission.
- Obstructing the programming of the Undergraduate Research Symposium including behaviors such as creating disturbances with disruptive noise, blocking means of egress, or damaging Symposium materials.
To report conduct concerns, use one of the following methods:
- Connect with the Mary Gates Hall, Experiential Learning and Diversity, Room 171 front desk staff and they will put you in touch with a member of the Undergraduate Research Symposium event staff to discuss your concerns.
- If this is an emergency, contact the police by dialing 9-1-1. UWPD can also be reached at their non-emergency number, 206-685-8973.
- If you have concerns for your own safety or the safety of others, please call SafeCampus at 206-685-SAFE (7233) which is available between 8 am-5 pm Monday through Friday.
- For non-urgent concerns, please email the UW Office of Undergraduate Research at undergradresearch@uw.edu.
